Welcome to Collerkin

The Coller work represented here suggests that the family dates back to John Coller who emigrated from Lincolnshire, England and settled in Massachusetts in 1649.

Another possibility presented in "Burke's American Families with British Ancestry" is that the Coller line goes back to Thomas Coller, who emigrated from England in 1714 and settled in the Connecticut Colony. He was born in 1688 and married Ms. Turner in 1732. Another source states his descendants moved to Livingston Manor, New York, Michigan and California. His son would be Thomas Turner Coller.

These conflicting paths are both based upon the research done by Dr. Jasper Coller in the 1920s and 1930s. He initially felt the ancestral line went back to the Connecticut Colony. His later work suggested Massachusetts. These paths deviate at Thomas Turner Coller. I have not been able to substantiate one body of work over the other and would appreciate any contribution that might help resolve the differences.

Though the Coller family is the focus of this web site, information on the family of Pamela Nixon Coller can also be found here. Pam is a member of the Mayflower Society and traces her lineage back to Pilgrim Thomas Rogers.

Some trivia for recent Collers with Leary ancestors. Ever think you were related to Daniel Boone? Starting at Coller, trace back through Leary and Hinton to where the Boone family ties in. If you keep looking, you will find your way to Daniel Boone. He would be my second cousin 7 times removed. Having Daniel Boone as an ancestor also means that you are related by marriage to President Abraham Lincoln.

Because so many have made contributions, I no longer try to list individuals. Updates and corrections that do not contain a significant amount of data can be handled fairly quickly. Large contributions of information will probably take me months or years to study and post on the internet. So don't feel neglected if things don't show up in a timely fashion. Maybe I can retire someday and focus more on the loose ends.

Mark Coller.
